Meet the Team

Melvin Colón serves as Minister of Care and Pastor of Park West Church Spanish Ministry, Ministerio Nuevos Comienzos. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Studies from the Pentecostal Bible College of Puerto Rico and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN.

Melvin and Margarita Colón moved to Knoxville in July of 1995 desiring to start a Spanish Ministry. As they became members of Park West Church in 1996, the Lord kept moving their hearts in that direction and preparing them, through the ministry of the church, into fulfilling that call. In November of 2004, as a time of preparation, they started intercessory prayer meetings at Park West Church for the Hispanic community in Knoxville and surrounding areas on Wednesday nights. 

In January, 2005 he and his wife Margarita were led by the Lord to begin the Spanish Ministry "Nuevos Comienzos" at Park West Church. Today, Nuevos Comienzos (New Beginnings) offers Sunday night worship services at 6 pm, Wednesday night bible studies at 7 pm, Thursday night biweekly meetings both for men and women and frequent family nights. People from different walks, from several nations are being touched by God right here in Knoxville.

Melvin has a passion for discipleship and mentoring. He and his wife enjoy foreign missions as well and have been on mission trips to Central and South America. Melvin lives in Knoxville with his wife Margarita and their two children Ishmael and Jesse. Their desire is to provide an atmosphere where Spanish speaking individuals feel loved, accepted, and nurtured; ministering to them in their own language.
